Acquiry

Compare your options for buying or selling.

Advisers, brokers, banks and marketplaces each suit a different business and a different buyer. These comparisons are written to help you choose, including when we are not the right fit.

Summary

Marketplaces and brokers suit smaller businesses sold to individual buyers. Investment banks suit very large and listed-company deals. Specialist M&A advisers such as Acquiry suit technology and digital businesses from $1M to $500M, where strategic and private equity buyers set the price.

Comparisons describe each provider’s publicly stated model at the date shown, in general terms. Services and fees change, so check each provider’s current terms directly. Trade names belong to their owners; Acquiry is not affiliated with any provider named on this page.

How to compare any adviser

Five questions to ask

  • Which comparable deals has this firm closed in the last two years, at what size and in which sector?
  • Who will run my deal day to day, and how many other mandates do they have?
  • Which buyers would you approach first, and why would they pay a premium?
  • What are the full fee terms, including retainers, minimum fees and tail periods?
  • How will you keep the process confidential from staff, customers and competitors?
