1. About this policy
This policy explains how Acquiry Pty Ltd ("Acquiry", "we", "us") handles personal information collected through www.acquiry.com (the "Website") and in the course of our work introducing buyers, sellers, investors and their advisers.
It applies to visitors, to people who contact us or subscribe to our publications, and to counterparties and advisers we communicate with about a transaction. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service.
2. What we collect
We collect information you give us directly, information collected automatically when you use the Website, and business contact information from public and professional sources.
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number, company, role and location.
- Enquiry details: what you tell us about a business, a mandate or a transaction you are considering.
- Subscription details: the publications and alerts you have asked to receive.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring site, and how you interact with pages, collected through cookies and similar technologies where you allow it.
- Business contact information: professional details of executives, investors and advisers from company websites, filings, professional networks and data providers, used to make relevant introductions.
3. How we use it
We use personal information to run our business and to give you a useful, relevant experience.
- Respond to enquiries and manage introductions, confidentiality agreements and engagements.
- Send Deal Intelligence, research and alerts you have subscribed to. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Understand which content and tools are useful, and improve the Website.
- Measure and improve our advertising, where you have consented to marketing cookies.
- Keep the Website secure, prevent misuse and meet our legal obligations.
4. Legal bases (UK and EEA visitors)
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on: your consent for analytics and marketing cookies and for marketing emails; our legitimate interests in running and growing an introduction business, responding to enquiries and contacting relevant business counterparties; the performance of a contract where we are engaged; and compliance with legal obligations.
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing that happened before you withdrew.
7. International transfers
We are based in Australia and work with clients and service providers in other countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union. Personal information may therefore be stored or processed outside the country where it was collected.
Where UK or EEA personal information is transferred, we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses, and we take reasonable steps to make sure recipients protect it to an equivalent standard.
8. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, including to meet legal, accounting and reporting requirements. Enquiry and engagement records are generally kept for up to seven years. Cookie lifetimes are shown in the cookie declaration in the consent tool.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access controls and confidentiality agreements. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we will notify affected people and regulators of eligible data breaches as the law requires.
10. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, object to or restrict how we use it, ask for a copy in a portable format, and opt out of marketing. California residents can also ask what we collect and request deletion; we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising in a way that requires an opt-out, and honour Global Privacy Control signals as a request to opt out. Email info@acquiry.com and we will respond within the time the law requires.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
11. Complaints
If you have a concern, please contact us first at info@acquiry.com so we can put it right. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au), the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
12. Children
The Website is intended for business professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
